History
Founded in 1965, Joice and Hill initially hatched and distributed Babcock variety layers before becoming a Hisex Brown grandparent location in the 1970s. In 1993, BP Nutrition sold Joice and Hill to former Hillsdown Poultry Meat CEO, Robert Haynes.
Joice and Hill Poultry Ltd continued to distribute Hisex Brown until the merger of Hisex breeder, Euribrid with Hendrix and the formation of Hendrix Poultry Breeders in 1998. Analysing the UK market conditions Hendrix Poultry Breeders recommended trying the Bovans Goldline with UK producers. This proved very popular with our customers and we have tripled our day old sales in five years. Hendrix Poultry Breeders also continued to grow and in 2005, the parent company Hendrix Genetics acquired ISA, making them the largest layer breeder in the world.
In 2006, Joice and Hill Poultry Ltd announced the signing of an exclusive distribution agreement for the Bovans and Babcock B380 brands and the acquisition of the former ISA UK hatchery and farms in and around Peterborough. Hendrix Genetics increased the shareholding in Joice and Hill Poultry Ltd, demonstrating their commitment to the products and the UK market and their faith in the Joice and Hill team. |
